Create a Functional Access Area

To fine-tune security, you can create functional access areas to map existing or site-defined objects. Each object can only map to one functional access area. After you create the functional access area, you edit the permissions to designate roles that use the functional access area.

To create a functional access area

  1. On the Administration tab, select Security and Role Management, Functional Access.

The Functional Access List page appears.

  2. Click Create New.

The Create New Functional Access List page appears.

  3. Complete the following fields as appropriate:
    Symbol

    Defines the functional access area.

    Code

Defines the CA SDM or site-defined object name.

Note: Objects can only map to one functional access area. However, one functional access area can manage multiple objects.

    Description

    Describes the functional access area.

  4. Click Save.

The system creates the functional access area and assigns the Modify access level to every role. The Functional Access Detail page appears with a confirmation message.

Note: Because every role has the Modify access level, you can edit permissions to customize access levels.
