Create Manufacturer Models

You can enter information about the manufacturers and models of the hardware, software, and services associated with your system. You can also reference this information in configuration item records.

To create a manufacturer model

  1. From the Administration tab, navigate to Service Desk, Application Data, Configuration Items, Models.

    The Manufacturer Model List page appears.

  2. Click Create New.

    The Create New Manufacturer Model page appears.

  3. Fill in the following fields:
    Name

    A unique identifier for the model

    Record Status

    Indicates whether the model is active or inactive.

    Company

    The company that produces this model. This model must be a company defined in your system. You can enter the company name directly in the field or click the search icon to display a list of companies.

    Class

    The configuration item class to which this model belongs. The class must be defined in your system. You can enter the class directly in the field or click the search icon to display a list of classes.

    Description

    Provides a detailed description of the manufacturer model. You can use this field to further identify the model.

    Click Save.

    The model definition is saved and the Manufacturer Model Detail page appears.
