Import Packages

You can import packages from the Knowledge Import Packages List page in Knowledge Administration or by running the pdm_kit utility from the command line. For advanced availability configuration, run ImportSampleData.bat or ImportSampleData.sh from background server only.

Note: The sample files are not localized. Importing sample data does not work on localized environments. In advance availability configuration, run ImportSampleData.bat or ImportSampleData.sh from the background server only.

Follow these steps:

1. Depending on your configuration type, perform the following steps:
   • Conventional: From the default $NX_ROOT/site/keit/export directory, copy the desired knowledge package to your default $NX_ROOT/site/keit/import installation directory.
   • Advanced Availability: Copy the knowledge content package from UNC Shared Location/export directory to the UNC Shared Location/import directory.
2. From the Administration tab, select Knowledge, Documents, Export/Import, Import.

   The Knowledge Import Packages List page appears.

3. Right-click the desired package and select Import from the short-cut menu.

   Note: For advanced availability configuration, you cannot export or import from application server using CA SDM Web UI. To export or import using application server, execute the pdm_kit or pdm_ket utility if the package resides in a UNC shared drive.

4. Click OK in the message that appears.

   Note: The message may not appear if the package is larger. The import progress can be seen under the Import Transactions page.

   The package is imported to the target system and appears on the Knowledge Import Transaction List page.
